Sandton City & Nelson Mandela Square

Nelson Mandela square is in Sandton Johannesburg. Sandton City which is adjacent to Nelson Mandela Square forms one of the largest malls in South Africa.

This is one of my favourite malls. It’s close to me and I love shopping here or just going over for lunch or dinner.

In Sandton City there is a section of the mall called the diamond walk where you can find stores like Gucci, Burberry, Dolce & Gabana and Louis Vuittone etc. There are other stores like Forever 21, H&M, forever New, Zara, Hamleys, Cartier and many other stores.

I’ve been to a few malls but I always prefer this mall. In Nelson Mandela square there is a piazza with different restaurants. I love having dinner at Wangthai, overlooking the piazza area. You will also notice a statue of Nelson Mandela here. There’s always a line of tourists waiting to take pictures next to the statue of Nelson Mandela.

If you’re in Johannesburg you should definitely visit this mall.

The evenings at Nelson Mandela Square in Johannesburg are beautiful. I love it especially in summer.

Medical Law- Negligence/malpractice

Medical Law- Negligence/malpractice

Protecting man, his life, personality, health and dignity is one of the fundamental objects of the law. Medical science calls on the law to determine the permissable limits within which one may operate. A failure to act with the necessary care may sometimes lead to civil liability either because of a breach of contract or on the grounds of delict.

I look forward to hearing about your experiences regarding medical negligence.

Hartebeespoort dam

If you’re in Gauteng you should visit hartebeespoort dam. It’s an hour away from Johannesburg with many lodges, animal farms etc in the area.

It’s away from the busy city and has enough nature and peaceful scenery to just unwind……

Back in the UK

I’m back in the UK, making more memories.  Been in Bournemouth for a week and I love Bournemouth Square, all my favourite stores are just around the corner as well as  Bournemouth Beach.   I love watching random people perform at Bournemouth Square.

I have uploaded some pics of my UK trip…

London definitely has an energy that no other city has.  So many cultures, accents and so many people…its amazing:) The best part about being in the UK during this time of the year is the festive atmosphere.   Christmas lights on the streets and lots of Christmas sales.  You can just feel it, Xmas is around  the corner; )

When I’m in London I always go to Laduree and Harrods.  I’m always amazed at how massive Harrods is and I absolutely the macaroons at Laduree.  I also love the curries at Madhus in Harrods; )

Friday nights at Picadilly. ….

The SA Constitution

South Africa prior to 1994

For many years South Africa was in conflict with both the international community and international law.  Apartheid, premised on race discrimination and the denial of human rights, was contrary both to the law of the UN Charter and to the norms of human rights non-discrimination and self-determination generated by the post-World War II order. Although South Africa’s foreign policy during this period was highly legalistic, it was the old law of state sovereignty and absolute respect for domestic jurisdiction that guided and shaped it.  South Africa became a pariah state within the international community a delinquent state in the context of the ‘new’ international law of human rights.  In 1994, during the first democratic elections, South Africa had an opportunity to join the international arena.

The 1996 Constitution

The arrival of the new constitution brought with it a new beginning for South Africa.  The constitution has become the cornerstone of democracy in South Africa.  The use of foreign law by South African courts was authorised by the South African constitution.  Before the interim Constitution came into operation, the negotiation and signature of treaties was a prerogative act of the executive in which the legislature and the courts played no part.  Since the establishment of the new constitutional order courts have shown a great willingness to be guided by international human rights law.  Decisions of the European Commission and Court of Human Rights have provided the greatest assistance, but courts have on occasion also considered the views of the United Nations Human Rights Committee and United Nations reports on human rights matters.

Piza e vino

I really enjoy a pizza at piza e vino and I like the fact that the  base of the pizza is not too thick and ‘doughy’.  I’ve also found that piza e vino uses good quality ingredients and they have gluten free options which is awesome.  I generally love the vibe at the Rosebank and Melrose Arch branches.

UK

I am back in the UK during their summer.  I’m really enjoying the late sunsets and I love their architecture. The weather in England is quite unpredictable though;) Will post more about my England trip soon. For now there are a few pictures below:)image

Natural history museum

I’ve been here on a Sunday. I have never seen such long queues ever before. We waited for about 45 minutes in the rain to get into the museum. Inside the museum, the architecture is absolutely, amazingly beautiful and it’s a huge museum so you need a few hours to go around the entire museum.

Laduree is such a pretty little store, you really wouldn’t want to leave. Love their macaroons and all the pastel colors.
